Running a Guided Task
This guide walks through a guided task session from start to finish. Everything here applies to a worker on the floor using their phone.
1. Starting a Session
From the dashboard, find the workflow you need and select it. Review the task name and any pre-task notes. When you're ready, press Start.
The system will announce the first step immediately — by voice if you're in voice mode, or as text on screen.
2. Following Steps
Each step is delivered one at a time. Work through the step, then confirm completion:
- By voice: say "done" or "next" to advance
- By tap: press the Next button on screen
The system waits for your confirmation before moving forward. Steps always advance in sequence — you won't skip ahead accidentally.
If you need a step repeated, say "repeat" or tap the back arrow.
3. Switching Input Modes
During a session you can switch freely between voice, text, and camera at any point. Use whichever is practical for the environment you're in — loud shop floor, confined space, working with both hands. See Input Modes for details on each option.
4. Asking Questions Mid-Task
You can ask questions at any step without losing your place. If your account has documents in the Knowledge Base, the system searches them first before responding. This means answers draw from your actual manuals and work instructions — not generic information. See Knowledge Base for more on uploading documents.
5. Ending the Session
When you reach the final step and confirm it, the session ends automatically. You'll see a session report with:
- Performance snapshot — the final reading of metrics tracked live during the session (such as pace, technique, or step accuracy, depending on how the task is configured)
- Coach's notes — a written summary from the AI covering what went well and what to work on
- Scores — rated dimensions for the task, each with a short explanation of the rating
This report appears immediately — there is no delay and no manual step required on your end.
If you need to stop before finishing, select Abandon Session from the menu. The session is closed and marked incomplete. A partial session report may still be generated depending on how far through the task you got.
Note: Session results are saved automatically when the session ends. Any follow-up documentation, compliance forms, or back-office actions configured for this task run in the background — you do not need to do anything extra. Administrators can review the full session report in the Bourne AI console at any time after the session.
See Session Reports for more on reading and acting on what you see at session end.
