Agents are Bourne's automation layer. They trigger compliance, documentation, and integrations during or after a guided task. For the worker-facing guidance experience, see Guided Tasks.
Agents Overview
Agents handle the back-office work so your workers don't have to. While a worker follows guided steps on their phone, agents fire in the background at key moments — filling out compliance forms, generating documentation, calling external APIs, or pushing data to your existing systems.
How Agents Work
A worker follows a guided task from start to finish. At points you define — mid-task or on completion — an agent triggers automatically. The worker sees none of it; they just keep working. The agent handles the paperwork, the recordkeeping, and the integrations.
Common uses include:
- Generating a completed compliance or inspection form
- Logging job outcomes to a back-office system
- Triggering follow-up workflows when a task reaches a specific step
- Calling an external API based on what was captured during the task
